FOOT CARE JOURNAL 17
Exfoliate and Moisturize at Once:
A Different Approach to Foot Care
Most of us were taught to do it in order: file first, moisturize after. Two separate steps, two separate moments. There is another way to think about it.
The usual sequence has a small flaw. Filing is done on skin that is still dry and hard, and moisture arrives only once the work is finished.
Dry, hardened skin resists the file. It takes more passes and more pressure, and that friction is exactly what tells the skin to build itself back up.
The other approach brings moisture into the process itself. When the skin is softened and hydrated while it is being smoothed, the file glides rather than scrapes, and less pressure is needed for the same result.
Not just waterlogged
The wrinkles that appear on fingertips after a long bath are not simply skin soaking up water. They are controlled by the nervous system, and they do not form when certain nerves are damaged. Skin responds to water far more actively than it seems.
Callus care and moisturizing stop being two jobs and become one. The skin is cared for at the same moment it is smoothed.
At Colors, this idea shapes how we approach foot care, and it is the thinking behind the Colors PRO Foot Serum we use in the salon.
So how can skin be smoothed and moisturized at the same time? The answer lies in a few small details of chemistry.
Smooth and soft, in a single step.
At Colors Hiroo Nail Lounge, foot care is a treatment of its own, never an afterthought. Over the years, we have kept refining how we care for callused skin and heels.
It can be done in the same visit as your gel manicure or pedicure: an unhurried hour in a modern Japanese house, two minutes’ walk from Hiroo Station.
Reservations are made through Hot Pepper Beauty, an external Japanese booking site. English-language plan details are listed further down that page; please scroll down to find them.
